Man admits meth distribution, judge can’t accept plea
GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) – Prosecutors say a Pass Christian man found with crystal meth has admitted being a drug supplier, but a federal judge declined to accept his guilty plea – because of a zero.
Chief U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola Jr. said in a court record the indictment of 42-year-old Robert Necaise Jr. contains a typographical error and the government must correct before his plea can be accepted.
The indictment said Necaise was found with at least 500 grams of meth March 12 when a Harrison County deputy pulled him over in a traffic stop. The Sun Herald reports the correct amount is at least 50 grams, his attorney wrote in a court filing.
