Officials: Escaped Alabama inmate caught in Kentucky

ELMORE, Ala. (AP) – An inmate who escaped from an Alabama jail has been recaptured in Kentucky.

News outlets report that the Alabama Department of Corrections says 27-year-old Justin Caldwell was apprehended Monday morning during a traffic stop in Hardin County, Kentucky.

Authorities say Caldwell escaped early Friday morning from the Elmore Correctional Facility, where he is serving eight years for theft.

Officials said Caldwell is being held in the Hardin County Jail in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, until he is transported back to Alabama to face escape charges.
