Revolutionary War battle re-enactment set at Kentucky park
MOUNT OLIVET, Ky. (AP) – A Revolutionary War battle that included Kentucky’s most famous pioneer will be remembered at a re-enactment at a state park.
The re-enactment is set for the weekend of Aug. 20-21 at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park in northern Kentucky. State parks officials say admission will be free.
The event commemorates the 1782 Battle of Blue Licks that included Daniel Boone and other pioneers along the Licking River. The outnumbered pioneers lost when they went up against British soldiers and Native Americans.
Among the 70 pioneers who died was Boone’s son Israel.
Parks officials say the weekend will include pioneer camps, entertainment, trail walks, historical programs and two battle re-enactments – one on Saturday and another on Sunday. Food and craft vendors will also be set up at the park.
