Deputies: Man stabbed his mother multiple times

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) – Hancock County sheriff’s deputies say 53-year-old woman remains hospitalized after she was stabbed repeatedly by her son.

The Sun Herald reports deputies responded Saturday morning to a stabbing at a home in the Deer Park community, which is in the northwest part of the county.

Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan says the woman was stabbed several times in the torso and in the back of the head.

Grannan says the woman lives at the home with her son, 34-year-old Carter Anderson, who was there when authorities arrived. Anderson was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault.

Officials have yet to say what prompted the attack.

Anderson is being held at the Hancock County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for Anderson.
