Giles County commissioner indicted on sex charges

PULASKI, Tenn. (AP) – A Middle Tennessee county commissioner has been arrested on statutory rape and sexual exploitation charges.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says 71-year-old Giles County Commissioner Thomas Campbell was arrested Wednesday and is being held on $75,000 bond.

The agency said in a news release that the investigation began in May. A county grand jury returned indictments Wednesday charging Campbell with aggravated statutory rape and two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Online jail records did not indicate whether Campbell is represented by an attorney who could comment on the case.
