Man sentenced for distributing heroin, making crack cocaine

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) – A 29-year-old Waveland man has been ordered to serve five years of a 15-year prison term for distributing heroin and making crack cocaine at his home.

Hancock County Circuit Court, District Attorney Joel Smith said Wednesday Jeremy Simpkins Jr. was sentenced after pleading guilty.

The Sun Herald reports Judge Lisa Dodson imposed a combined prison term of 15 years. She suspended 10 years, leaving five to serve followed by five years of probation.

Simpkins was arrested on March 14, 2014, with a man who also lived at the house during an investigation of alleged drug sales in the neighborhood.
