Circles of Hope Telethon rings in $1.4 million to help abused children
JACKSON, Tenn. — The 33rd Annual Circles of Hope Telethon, successfully raised awareness and money for the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
“We are celebrating the life of Cousin Tuny and Carl Perkins and all that they did to make this telethon a reality,” President & CEO of the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center Pam Nash said.
Behind hours of TV magic, and live performances, thousands of donors answered the call to raise money for the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
“We have groups coming from all the counties and presenting checks and money that they have raised to help make this world a better place for our kids,” Nash said.
The 33rd Annual Circles of Hope Telethon raises money for the 24 abuse centers spread across 20 counties in West Tennessee.
“Let children know that there are adults that support them,” volunteer and President of Lane College Dr. Logan Hampton said. “That love them and that will make the sacrifice to help them to repair and rebuild their lives.”
Hundreds of volunteers make this telethon possible, donating their time and their talents.
“I feel like I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to do something I love for a living and any opportunity we get to give back and help raise money for any kind of cause especially in our hometown we’re always up for doing so,” songwriter and performer Ash Bowers said.
“I think this day just celebrates and shows and demonstrates who we really are as a community,” Dr. Hampton said.
Unified by the mission, the West Tennessee community has given what they can to make a difference in the life of a child.
“West Tennessee is the most giving community that I have every seen,” Nash said.
After collecting pledges for 9 hours nonstop, volunteers raised more than $1.4 Million. All of which will go towards preventing the cycle of child abuse here in West Tennessee.
