Itawamba man found guilty of killing infant daughter
ITAWAMBA, Miss. (AP) – A Mississippi man has been convicted of murder in the death of his infant daughter eight years ago. However, jurors rejected a charge of capital murder, convicting Joshua Clark instead on a murder charge carrying a maximum of 40 years in prison.
News outlets report that an Itawamba County jury convicted Clark on Friday of “depraved heart murder” of 4-month-old Kylie Clark.
It was his second trial. The first trial ended when Clark pleaded guilty to capital murder, agreeing to a life sentence. However, the trial judge rejected that plea agreement on grounds of ineffective counsel.
