Local UT Extension Office hosts canning classes
HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn. — The Hardeman County UT Extension Office is looking for people interested in learning how to can.
The Family and Consumer Science Department hosts the canning class twice a year. The last class of this year will be Sept. 23. It will offer hands-on learning while making three canned recipes.
Every participant will get to take home their canned goods and a cook book.
“The basics of water bath canning — it was something that was big many years ago and it’s kind of coming back,” said Katie Dees with the Hardeman County Extension Office. “We just like to teach people the right principles to can, the right techniques and things like that.”
The class costs $25 and will be accepting students until Sept. 15.
