Union City man charged with assault, stealing car in Martin
MARTIN, Tenn. — A man has been arrested on accusations of assaulting a man and stealing his car outside a Martin motel.
Nicholas Baggett, 22, of Union City is charged with robbery, assault and felony theft of property, according to a release from the Martin Police Department.
Officers responded around 2 a.m. Sunday to the Econo Lodge motel where police say the victim told them Baggett had assaulted and robbed him.
The man told police Baggett had asked to borrow his car and that when he said no, Baggett began hitting him in the face with his fist, took his keys without permission and stole $300 in cash before leaving in the victim’s car.
Baggett was later apprehended and the car was recovered by the Union City Police Department.
