Week one’s team of the week

ADAMSVILLE, Tenn — After defeating the Chester County Eagles 35-7 in their opening game of the season, the Adamsville Cardinals were rewarded with the First Team Of The Week honors, voted on by the fans. Head coach Brandon Gray credits everything to good players and his great coaching staff.

The Cardinals got behind early giving up a touchdown. They followed that up with a 15 play scoring drive and 35 unanswered points.

“Well we just got some good kids and great coaches and good community support,” said Gray.  “You know our kids work hard and they go out and compete. That’s an example of giving up that first touchdown and coming back and scoring. That’s a great example that our kids play without a lot of pride.”

The Cardinals play with a ton of price and their coaches teach their players about life and not just football, as life after football will come soon for some.

“We try to instill, you know good traits,” said Gray.  “We talk to them all the time about accountability. Because one day, football’s going to be over and their going to go out into the community and we want them to be productive members of our community. We want them to give back. We want them to be good fathers and be good husbands.”

Well for now they can focus on being student-athletes, because this Friday they have a tough match up going up against Hardin County.
