Man receives life sentence for sex-trafficking girls
NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A Tennessee man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in sex-trafficking two girls into the New Orleans area.
In a Wednesday news release, U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite said 26-year-old Timothy Jones of Memphis lured underage girls into prostitution, beat them and kept all of their earnings for himself.
A federal jury in February convicted Jones of multiple charges, including sex-trafficking two minor females through the use of force, fraud, and coercion.
Jones was also sentenced to pay a total of more than $13,000 in restitution to the two victims.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports that Jones was sentenced last year to 100 years in prison under Louisiana’s habitual offender law after being convicted of trying to kill a Gentilly man.
