Officials: Federal inmate escaped from detention center

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say a federal inmate has escaped from the Washington County Detention Center in Jonesborough.

The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/2cce99d ) reports that 37-year-old Timothy England escaped from the facility early Tuesday.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that authorities were investigating how he escaped.

The detention center was on lockdown Tuesday morning, but activities had returned to normal by the afternoon.

England was in federal custody awaiting trial on charges of bank robbery and violating his federal supervised release.

Authorities are asking residents to be vigilant. The U.S. Marshal’s Service has offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture of England.
