Lions maul their way to top team of the week
DRESDEN, Tenn — After taking down West Carroll last Friday, fans and students voted the Dresden Lions week three’s team of the week. The game was over near halftime as the second stringers were in a majority of the second half.
Head coach Derek Rang is making sure he and his staff are preaching to the kids every day they take the field is important. Rang was pleased with his team receiving this honor.
“Well We’re just honored number one,” Rang said. Â “We’re excited about being team of the week. The kids worked hard and played a good football game down at West Carroll Friday so it’s kind of an honor to be team of the week, to showcase all the kids hard work and we just want to get this award many of times hopefully. ”
On the year the Lions have outscored their opponents 118-6. In this position it is easy for a team to get complacent and live in the past. Rang talked about what they need to do moving forward.
“I think the challenge going forward is number one continue to get better everyday,” said Rang. Â “Continue to get better every week. We have some tough games coming up and just to keep working hard and that way those tough games against a Trenton Peabody, a Union City, or South Fulton or those region games that are very important for playoff standings. Just continue to get better to give us a chance to win those football games.”
The Lions will take on Ballard Memorial from Kentucky.
