Man facing child rape charge to undergo mental evaluation

JACKSON, Tenn. — A man accused of raping an 11-year-old boy appeared Thursday in Jackson City Court.

Kelvin Golden was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on a count of rape of a child. Instead of proceeding, prosecutors requested a mental evaluation for Golden, which the judge granted.

No dates for the evaluation or his next hearing were set.

Golden remains jailed in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
