Andrew Jackson Marathon gets makeover, new name

JACKSON, Tenn.-A big announcement for Tennessee’s oldest marathon, Jackson’s Andrew Jackson marathon.

To celebrate its 45th year, organizers announced Tuesday, it is getting a makeover with a new name. It will now be called the “Run AJM Jackson” and will be held in downtown, starting at the West Tennessee Farmer’s Market, instead of north Jackson.
It will also include a family fun zone and music at The Amp.

“It’s gonna have more of a hometown feel and we hope to get the neighborhood out there and supporting it and people clapping,”  said Danny Crossett, director of the Andrew Jackson Marathon.

The marathon and half marathon are scheduled for Saturday, April 1 and will continue to be a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
