Fire officials demonstrate the importance of having working smoke detectors

HUNTINGDON, Tenn.-The Huntingdon Fire Department demonstrated just how important smoke detectors can be, if your house catches fire.

The fire and rescue squad burned two condemned houses, Monday. Pictures shared with WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News showed just how quickly the flames can get out of hand. Firefighters said they did not use accelerants to start the fire.

It took just four minutes for the house to be filled with smoke and nine minutes later flames start to come out of the house.
Firefighters stress the importance of testing your smoke detectors regularly.
