Humboldt police warn storage unit users after string of burglaries
HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Police are urging anyone who uses storage units to take precautions after a recent string of burglaries.
The Humboldt Police Department started investigating Monday after a series of storage unit burglaries throughout the city and found that several units had been tampered with or broken into, according to a release from the department.
Officers say anyone using storage units should keep a list of what’s in the unit along with serial numbers and detailed descriptions of their property.
Police also say renters should use a padlock with a shroud instead of a normal padlock, saying they are more difficult to cut. The department provided a photo of the type of lock they recommend.
