Woman gets 15 years in prison in Memphis pastor’s death
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Prosecutors say a Mississippi woman has pleaded guilty in the robbery and fatal shooting of a Memphis pastor.
The Shelby County district attorney’s office says 25-year-old Lashonda Williams pleaded guilty Monday to facilitation to commit first-degree murder in the death of 57-year-old Don A. Smith. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Smith was a pastor at Prospect Park Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis. He was found shot to death in November 2014.
Investigators say Williams and Roger Reed Jr., both of Greenville, Mississippi, got into Smith’s car after an agreement was reached for a sexual transaction. Reed then shot Smith in the head, and took his watch and $40.
They were arrested in Greenville four days later. Reed was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in August.
