Academy Sports gives to local Boys & Girls Club

JACKSON, Tenn. — Before a new Academy Sports location opens in the Hub City, the sports retailer is already giving back to Jackson.

Thursday afternoon, 30 children from the Boys & Girls Club of Jackson not only got a sneak peek at the store but were given a $100 gift card and a chance to shop to their heart’s content.

Store leaders told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News while the kids seemed to enjoy the shopping spree, it is the employees who received the greatest gift.

“They (the kids) get the pride of being, not only the for first shoppers, but we get to take them individually through the store and really put a smile one their face and it brings us more joy than it does them, I think,” said store director, Shaun Kehe.

Doors officially open at the Stonebrook Place location at 8 a.m., Friday.
