Dozens wait in line for new iPhone in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — Customers waited in line for hours to get the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as the new phones officially hit store shelves Friday.

iphoneDozens of people lined up outside the AT&T and Verizon stores in north Jackson on Friday morning.

Apple said the new phone will be in short supply. The company said walk-in customers will not be able to get the iPhone 7 Plus because they all were snatched up on pre-order.

One customer told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he drove about an hour and waited in line all night. “If you don’t come out and get it, you aren’t going to get it,” Jonathan Smith, of Sardis, said. “It’s just what I prefer. Everything I got is Apple. It’s what I like.

The new phones are water resistant and have beefed-up cameras, but they are missing a headphone jack.
