Carroll Co. deputies investigate cemetery vandalism

CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. — Deputies are investigating after they say someone vandalized a church and cemetery Saturday night in rural Carroll County.

Cemetery graphicThe incident took place at Palestine Church, located on Highway 424 in Cedar Grove, according to Becky Keith, public information officer for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department.

Twenty-nine headstones were overturned in the cemetery as well as the pulpit and pews inside the church.

Evidence left inside the church has been sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for further examination.

The cemetery has been vandalized before.
