Former Wayne Co. chief deputy faces forgery, theft charges
WAYNE COUNTY, Tenn. — A former Wayne County law enforcement official is charged with stealing thousands of dollars from his department, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Former Wayne County chief deputy Gerald Baer, 62, has been indicted on multiple charges of theft and forgery, according to a TBI release.
The TBI says Baer used a county gas card for his own vehicle and took money from the department’s drug fund.
Baer left his position in May.
He is free on a $75,000 bond.
