Wanted fugitive arrested after more than a decade

A Tennessee fugitive on the run for more than a decade is arrested in Missouri Friday.

Joe Anthony Mercado Ortiz was first arrested in 2005 for multiple counts of child rape and aggravated sexual battery,according to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

When he skipped a court appearance while out on a $125,000 bond.

Investigators say Ortiz has been using a false identity, but they were able to recognize him by tattoos.

He’s awaiting extradition in Pemiscot county.
