Haywood Co. deputies search for 2 men in armed robbery
HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — The search is on for two men accused of holding a young mother at gunpoint in front of her children.
The incident happened around 7 a.m., Friday on Douglas Road in Stanton. The victim tells Haywood County deputies she was taking her kids to school Friday morning when the gunmen came out of nowhere.
The family was too shaken up to talk on camera, but a family friend tells WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they are doing OK.
According to a report, two masked men with guns approached a 24-year-old woman as she was putting her 6- and 8-year-old children in the car for school.
Deputies say they forced her back into the house where her 29-year-old boyfriend was and demanded money.
Officers say they pistol whipped the boyfriend, causing the gun to fire a shot through a bedroom window.
The two suspects got away with cash, jewelry and took the family’s car. The car was recovered not far from the home.
The family friend said they found two buckets and over 40 cigarette butts in the woods by the house, making them believe the family was being watched.
