Community members in Milan come together to stop crime
MILAN, Tenn. — Community members in the City of Milan came together ready to stop crime, Thursday evening.
In a community-wide event, close to 40 people gathered at the Polk Clark Enrichment Center near downtown. Organizers said it was a time to encourage parents and their children to promote peace in West Tennessee.
“We just want to do something to take our town back and let people know this is not a violent city,” said Ericka Adkisson, who helped organize the evening.
City leaders also took part in the evening. “It makes us closer,” said Mayor B.W. Beasley. “It makes our community realize we’re all in this together and anytime one hurts we all hurt.”
Several local organizers helped put the event together, including the Milan Police Department.
