Woman accused of killing Jackson couple while drag racing pleads guilty

JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman accused of drag racing and killing a Jackson couple in 2015 entered a guilty plea Tuesday.

Markarious Searcy’s trial was scheduled to begin Tuesday morning, but rather than jury selection taking place, Searcy entered a guilty plea of two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of reckless endangerment and one count of reckless driving.

Searcy is accused of drag racing Jordan Bailey in July of 2015 on Vann Drive when Searcy’s vehicle collided with Thomas “Jay” and Julie Hogan’s vehicle. The Hogans did not survive the crash.

Searcy’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 12. She is currently free on bond until the sentencing hearing.
