Kirkland Cancer Center holds annual “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer” event
JACKSON, Tenn.-An event was held Thursday night designed to shine a light on a disease that affects millions.
The Kirkland Cancer Center hosted its 3rd annual “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer”.
The event included guest speaker, Libby Mayes, a 6-year, stage 4 lung cancer survivor.
Organizers said their goal for the event is to raise awareness and support for lung cancer survivors and their caregivers.
“We’re going to talk about navigational broncoscopies, about endobronchial ultrasounds, which is a better way to sample the lymph nodes in the chest,” said Jennifer Rice, a lung care nurse navigator with the Kirkland Cancer Center.
The event was held in recognition of November being Lung Cancer Awareness month.
