Shelby Co. woman, 74, dies after hit by own car in parking lot

CORDOVA, Tenn. (AP) — A 74-year-old woman has died after she was hit by her own car in a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Memphis police tell news outlets that 74-year-old Peggy Rose was in her car in the Cordova Wal-Mart parking lot on Tuesday afternoon with the door open when it quickly backed up, hitting another person. Rose then rolled out of the car and was run over by her vehicle.

Authorities say she later died of her injuries at a hospital. The other person who was hit is expected to recover.
