Woman accused of trying to steal $700 in items from Wal-Mart

JACKSON, Tenn. — A woman was officially charged Monday in Jackson City Court on accusations of shoplifting from Wal-Mart in south Jackson.

Police say Erica Tates hid more than $700 worth of goods inside a plastic tote then tried to walk out of the store.

Tates is charged with felony theft. She is set to return to court Dec. 1.
