3 fatalities identified in fiery I-40 crash near Crossville
CROSSVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified three people who died in a fiery crash on Interstate 40 near Crossville.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/2fM2phA ) that Erik New was driving eastbound in a tractor-trailer when he crossed median and hit a Nissan Sentra driven by Nancy Tooley of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, before striking another truck driven by Noel Feliciano, of Winchester, Virginia.
Witnesses said there was an explosion when the trucks collided. New, Feliciano and Tooley died at the scene. Passenger Jack Tooley was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center by helicopter, where he was listed in serious condition Saturday.
The crash was reported at about 3 p.m. on Friday, and westbound lanes were closed until 9:45 p.m. while responders put out the fire and cleared the wreckage.
