Timo, a 2-year-old German shepherd, is the Madison County Sheriff’s Department’s new K-9.

His name is Timo, and he’s a 2-year-old German shepherd from Slovakia.

The department say Timo can track drugs, people and evidence.

Timo and his handler, Deputy Matt Nierenberger, did three weeks of training in Indiana.

The department says they also train eight hours each week.

“If somebody drops something in a field, the chances of us finding it are slim to none where he can actually smell the human odor on that object and he can locate it,” Nierenberger said.

The department says it hasn’t had a K-9 since 2006.
