Fire destroys parts of Birdsong Marina, Benton Co. EMA director says

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A Tuesday evening fire at Birdsong Resort Marina & RV south of Camden has reportedly resulted in heavy damage.

The boat sales and service department along with the museum are destroyed, according to Benton County EMA Director Richard Kee. No injuries have been reported at this time.

The fire is primarily contained, although the structure is too unstable for firefighters to enter, according to Kee. He said the plan is for crews to enter the building Wednesday to try to determine the cause.

Some residents reported hearing explosions, and Kee said there may have been propane tanks at the scene.

Four fire departments responded. A few homes were evacuated as a precaution, Kee said.

Members with the rescue squad described it as a large structure fire.
