Community gathers in prayer for victim in Bemis murder-suicide
BEMIS, Tenn. — A Thursday morning murder-suicide in Bemis has left two people dead and a community in shock.
Officers were called to a home in the 400 block of South Massachusetts Street just before 7 a.m. after reports of gunfire.
They reported finding a victim inside a home and their suspect in a wooded area near the house, both fatally wounded.
Jackson police remain tight lipped about the two gunshot victims or what led to the violence.
However, WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News contacted the Milan Police Department who tells us the shootings stem from a case in their area that was set to go to trial Thursday morning.
Jackson Police Chief Julian Wiser says this was an isolated case.
While police have not identified the victim, her community is gathering in prayer.
WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Reporter Eric Perry will have a live report from Bemis at the prayer vigil for the victim on WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News at 5 and 6.
