Weather Update – 10:30 p.m. Wednesday

Mostly clear skies are expected overnight with temperatures dropping to the upper 50s and lower to 60s at the coolest point of the night. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible once again on Thursday ahead of an oncoming cold front. Any thunderstorms that develop could produce heavy rain, frequent lightning and small hail. Temperatures will reach the lower and middle 80s again tomorrow in areas that get little to no rain.

A cold front will arrive late Thursday night and remain in the area through Friday and Saturday keeping a likely chance for rain in West Tennessee for the rest of the week. Some thunderstorms that develop could become severe. Right now, West Tennessee is partially under a marginal (1 out of 5) risk for severe weather on Thursday and on Friday. The threat for severe weather is low in that only one or two thunderstorms may become severe rather than widespread severe weather occurring which seems unlikely. Damaging winds and large hail will be the primary threats for any thunderstorms that become severe.
