Brownsville church collects supplies for Houston

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. — A local church is accepting clean-up supplies to send to Houston.

First United Methodist Church of Brownsville is accepting flood bucket kits. Some of the items include scrubs, dish washing liquid and clothing lines.

It is a project created by the United Methodist Committee of Relief. Organizers are asking for five-gallon buckets with lids to fill with supplies. The buckets are created to help victims after the water has receded.

“It helps them to clean their homes, and there are probably not going to be a lot of supplies in the stores down there because so many thousands and thousands of people have been affected by this that these buckets will be very well received I’m sure,” said Martha Hooper with the church.

The United Methodist Committee of Relief will have a tractor-trailer coming through on Sept. 11 to pick up supplies and deliver them to Houston.
