African American Book Club in Jackson celebrates 20th anniversary

 

JACKSON, Tenn. — The city of Jackson has officially proclaimed Tuesday, Nov. 28, as African American Book Club Day.

The African American Book Club was organized in 1997. Tuesday night, they celebrated their 20th anniversary.

Members met in downtown Jackson to honor and learn about current books by and about African Americans.

They also celebrated the birthday of their current president, Herbert Slack.
