Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by vehicle in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — Humboldt police said a man is in extremely critical condition Wednesday after being hit by a vehicle.

Officers said the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Viking Drive in Humboldt.

Police said officers found Nino Cox, 26, of Humboldt, in the roadway. He went to Humboldt Medical Center and then Nashville for treatment, according to police.

Investigators said the driver of the vehicle, Brian Stewart, 40, of Gadsden, was not hurt.

Family members tell WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they believe Cox was walking his dog at the time of the accident. They also say he is a father who loves his kids.

Police say no charges are pending at this time. They say the crash is still under investigation.
