UPDATE: Suspect in attack on woman in Henderson now in custody

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — Police say a man suspected in a brutal attack on his estranged girlfriend is now in custody.

Jerry Neal Wilson was wanted in connection with a Wednesday night attack on his estranged girlfriend.

Wilson is now in custody, according to the Henderson Police Department.

Police say they got a tip about Wilson’s whereabouts from someone in the county. They say he ran from officers but was captured around 10 a.m. Friday.

Wilson was wanted for criminal attempted first-degree murder.

Police say the attack came after a domestic assault charge last week after which Wilson was ordered by the court to stay away from the woman.

Wilson is alleged to have shown up at the woman’s house Wednesday night and attacked her with either a large knife or machete.

The victim was airlifted to Vanderbilt in critical condition.
