Mobile American Job Center helps Jackson residents find jobs

JACKSON, Tenn. — Residents had the chance Tuesday to get help finding a job at a career center on wheels.

“The coach is a Mobile American Job Center,” Karen Davison, a career specialist, said.  “It’s a fully equipped office inside.”

The Career Coach came to downtown Jackson Tuesday. Braxton Taylor came looking for a job.

“It was good. I got an interview at Kirkland’s today from 1 to 3,” Taylor said.

Taylor says has been looking for a job for a couple of weeks.

He was in and out in less than 15 minutes. The staff inside the coach is prepared to help you no matter where you’re at in your job search.

“We assist them with searching for jobs, with interviewing tips, building resumes,” Davison said.

The mobile job center wants to make it easier for people who may not have the resources to look for jobs.

“We are trying to get into the rural areas and reach those people and make sure everybody has an opportunity,” Davison said.

The vehicle is equipped with WiFi, computers and printers to make sure you’re ready when you step off and head to your interview.

And Taylor didn’t just get one interview.

“I hope I get hired, but if I don’t, they gave me another interview at Lowe’s on Saturday,” Taylor said.
