BREAKING: Officers capture suspect in weekend shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. — A suspected gunman in a weekend shooting is now in custody after being found Wednesday afternoon in an east Jackson neighborhood.

Braxton Taylor, 19, of Jackson was taken into custody around noon Wednesday in the 200 block of East Forest Avenue, according to a release from the Jackson Police Department.

Taylor is charged with attempted first-degree murder in a Sunday shooting in an alley behind the 1200 block of North Highland Avenue.

The victim was hospitalized after the shooting.

The Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, which is comprised of officers from the Jackson Police Department, Tennessee Department of Corrections and U.S. Marshals Service were involved in the arrest.

Taylor will be arraigned Thursday in Jackson City Court.
