Trial date set for suspects in deadly Jackson shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. — Two men accused of killing another man at a west Jackson apartment complex in January 2016 are now scheduled for trial.

Judge Kyle Atkins denied a motion Tuesday morning to separate Cornelius Jones’ case from his co-defendant, Cedric Evans.

Jones is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Mondarrius Miller at an apartment on Old Hickory Boulevard.

Jones’ attorney requested to have the charges dropped, which Atkins denied.

Atkins set their last date to plea in the case for April 24. Their trials are scheduled to begin May 29.
