15-year-old charged after accidental shooting in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Tenn. — A 15-year-old has been charged after an accidental shooting in Humboldt.

Humboldt police confirmed Friday that a 14-year-old was shot near North 18th Street, according to a news release.

The teenager was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition, the release says.

Initial reports indicated the shooting was a drive-by, but after an investigation police determined a 15-year-old was playing with a gun and accidentally shot his friend, the release says.

The 15-year-old, from Humboldt, has been charged with reckless aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
