Pope Elementary School celebrates Black History Month with ‘wax museum’

JACKSON, Tenn. — Students at Pope Elementary School celebrated Black History Month Wednesday.

The school hosted a school-wide wax museum. First grade teacher Sabrina Transou says she wants the students in the program to learn history of all cultures through their participation in the wax museum.

“Each culture needs to have a significant understanding of the role that their ancestors made in contributing to their future,” Transou said.

Parents and teachers were able to go through the wax museum, and students gave a full presentation afterward for their Black History Month project.
