Northside Assembly hosts fourth Holy Week service
JACKSON, Tenn. — Christians and believers gathered for another Holy Week service Thursday.
Those who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus met at Northside Assembly.
The Rev. Dub Oliver, who is also the president of Union University, spoke during the service.
Maundy Thursday was the night that believers say Jesus and the disciples gathered in the upper room for their last meal together.
Jesus washed the disciples’ feet and instituted what now most believers observe as the sacrament of communion.
“I hope that they take away the hope of Easter. That’s what Easter is all about,” Randy Carter said. “It is the hope of our salvation, the hope of our eternal future with the Lord. And I also hope that they take away the joy of the fellowship with other believers.”
Holy Week services conclude Good Friday at Skyline Church of Christ.
Pastor Jereme Smith, of New Life Church, will be the speaker at noon.
The public is invited to take part.
