What’s New Wednesday: Hwy 45 BBQ
MARTIN, Tenn.–Three local construction workers had a creative idea to start something new in Martin.
“It’s really a big sandwich,” said customer Sheila Hazlewood. “I really want it to be tender and theirs is very tender.”
Hazlewood and Ovella Pentecost love coming to the BBQ spot in Martin since it opened 4 months ago.
“I just like it all. It is real tender. I have false teeth so I could eat it good, better than most meats!” laughs Pentecost.
Former construction workers Kyle Wilbert, Tyler Reed, and Josh Hazlewood built the restaurant from the ground up.
“We were just doing construction one day Josh said ‘you’ve done BBQ before didn’t ya?’ and I said ‘yes, sir,'”said Reed.
Reed says cooking BBQ is a little bit different than working construction.
“It’s not as hot or cold. It’s a lot easier. We love to see customers smile. That’s what I love right there,” said Reed.
From homemade beans, brisket, cole slaw to mac and cheese, they say it’s all in the sauces.
“It’s quality food at the best prices! Bada boom!” says Reed.
The food is extremely affordable with prices all under $15. They have deals on Monday’s for college students. If you show an I.D., you get 10% off.
