New scholarship aims to help nursing students
JACKSON, Tenn. — A family has established a new scholarship at the University of Memphis Lambuth.
The Glisson family, who are former residents of Jackson, have established the Shelby Glisson Memorial Scholarship to help nursing students who have overcome medical adversity, according to a news release from the college.
Shelby Glisson had a rare lung condition which lead her to have two lung transplants, according to the release. The release says she died on Feb. 4, 2016.
Glisson was able to graduate from Friendship Christian School, attend University of Tennessee at Chattanooga School of Nursing and was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, according to the release.
