TDOC inmates donate to tornado relief efforts
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Inmates in the Tennessee Department of Correction are helping families who were impacted by the tornadoes in Middle Tennessee earlier this month.
TDOC says inmates from prisons across the state raised more than $1,000 for tornado relief efforts, donating that money to Second Harvest Food Bank and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
Second Harvest Food Bank works to solve hunger issues in their communities, while the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has activated their Emergency Response Fund to support communities and nonprofits.
Inmates across the state donated the funds from their individual trust fund accounts, according to the TDOC.
