Dyersburg man arrested after alleged assault on officers

DYERSBURG, Tenn. — Dyersburg police say a man is in custody following an alleged assault on officers early Wednesday morning.

Police say officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at Hicks Trailer Park around 3 a.m.

Police say the man was walking around the park beating on a travel trailer. Officers identified the man as 47-year-old Ricky Webb, of Dyersburg, according to a news release.

The release says Webb became combative and refused to comply with officers’ commands.

Police say Webb was tased multiple times, but Webb continued to resist officers’ attempts to restrain him, which injured Webb and the officers.

Webb refused medical treatment and was taken to the Dyer County Jail pending a city court hearing. He is currently charged with assault on a police officer, vandalism over $1,000, and resisting stop/frisk/halt.

Both officers were treated and released from West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg.
