Shiloh hosting bike tour of monuments
SHILOH, Tenn. — Shiloh National Military Park will host a bicycle tour of the battlefield on Saturday, July 24.
The tour will be led by a ranger and will explain the efforts of those who placed the monuments and the significance of the monument locations, according to a news release.
The tour will be about six miles and on moderate terrain, the release says.
Participants should bring their own bicycles. Participants under 16-years-old will need to wear a helmet.
The release says sunscreen, insect repellent and water are recommended.
The tour begins at 10 a.m. at the visitor center and will last until about noon.
The release says all but one of the monuments are next to the road, and participants will walk their bicycles to the monument off the paved road.
All ranger tours are free, but participants are asked to register in advance by calling the visitor center at (731) 689-5696.
